Notifications and Reminders

A core function of Looked After Call is the sending effective and timely notifications and reminders.

To overcome the limitations of email security, Looked After Call has a secure messaging system integrated within. Where appropriate, individual users may opt in/out of specific notifications depending on their role.

However, as email is so key to most organisations, Looked After Call sends emails to:

  • Notify users of unread secure messages
  • Remind users that certain time-sensitive actions need to be taken
  • Alert users that other users have undertaken certain actions

Notifications

When one user of Looked After Call sends a Secure Message to another user (either individually or as part of a group), a notification is sent via email to the recipient.

The content of the secure message is not included so as to maintain the secure nature of the platform.

Notifications regarding Secure Messages like the one shown above are also sent when a message is received as a result of an automated process, such as the change of status on a PEP.

The behaviour of notifications can be personalised by each user via the User Preferences page.

Alerts

When certain events occur in Looked After Call an alert is sent to relevant users and will vary depending on how your system is set up.

Events could include:

  • Change to PEP Statuses

  • New child assigned to a user

  • Child's school move (message is sent to Virtual School Users and Social workers responsible for the child)

  • New organisation added to your account (for designated teachers) - sent as an email

  • Child new to care - only Virtual school users will receive this notification

  • Term reminders (Start of term, End of term, Week 5/ 10) - sent as an email
