Data written back to SIMS by Truancy Call
Truancy Call gives you the option to write back attendance mark information (and comments) directly to Sims. The application writes to:
- SIMS Attendance (which records AM and PM session attendance)
- Lesson Monitor (which records attendance for individual lessons)
For this feature to work, you must go to Settings > Configure > Mark Writeback and select the options you wish to use.
Provided SIMS Lesson Monitor is configured to work with Truancy Call, if a user chooses to write a mark back for the AM session, it will write the mark back for all AM lesson sessions.
Screenshot of user writing back mark in Truancy Call: (with optional comment)
This results in the following within SIMS.net: (M mark for AM session only)
SIMS Attendance Module
SIMS Lesson Monitor: (M mark for all AM lessons)
Logic within SIMS.net prevents Truancy Call over writing any mark set within Lesson Monitor apart from an N code, so if you attempt to over write the M in the previous screenshot with a H, it would only over write the AM session mark with the H, leaving lessons 1,2 & 3 as M
Further examples of how Truancy Call will write back
H written back to both sessions for top 2 students, S to lower.
SIMS will not allow marks to be written over the middle student (lessons 1,2,3). However if marks are empty or contain a N, writeback succeeds.
